At one of the first Conference of Bishops meetings I attended, I heard of this Community Clergy Training Program, an initiative to help clergy recognize, understand, and competently address the needs of returning veterans in their congregations. I thought then how welcome such training and understanding would have been for me in my former parish. I am excited that we now have an opportunity to establish this training in our synod.

I invite you to seriously consider participating in this upcoming Interfaith Community Clergy Train the Facilitator Program. It is a two day commitment, but there is a lot of information to share. Following the training, you will be encouraged to promote this program further in your communities.

I hope you will join me in this important work and you are welcome to share this information with our ecumenical and inter faith partners as well."

The South-Central Synod of Wisconsin is Proud to Present: "CONNECT!"Connect

Connect is a unique, two-year process for developing a strategy for your congregation's future. It is a renewal process that strives to empower congregations to grow spiritually, discover their gifts as a congregation, and live out their faith in the community by sharing the gifts with which they have been blessed. It consists of workshops, a coaching relationship, homework for the leaders and the congregation, and developing a strategy for the congregation's future. Over the two-year period there are four workshops. A brochure with complete details will be mailed this week. Rostered leaders and Congregational Presidents should keep an eye out for it. The first session will be held Saturday, October 1. For more information and/or to register, contact DEM, Rev. Erik Jelinek at
