LYO
Officer and Board Member Duties
Our
current constitution has been held in abeyance for a limited time. The
duties listed here are from the old constitution, but we are still using most of
these guidelines for our existing office holders.
The
board shall meet at least six (6) times per year with additional
meetings scheduled as needed.
The officers of this organization shall be elected to a one(1)
year term by the board of this organization at its second meeting
following the annual assembly(November).
President's
Duties
-
Shall attend and preside over ALL meetings of the board, and
meetings of the assembly
- Attend
all executive committee meetings
- Prepare
an agenda with the executive committee for all meetings of the
board and the assembly
- Submit
a report to the annual LYO assembly and to the annual Synod
assembly
- Represent
the Synod LYO at all appropriate functions of the synod and
Churchwide body of the ELCA
- Serve
a one (1) year term
Vice-president's
Duties
- Attend
all executive committee meetings
- Assume
all duties of the president in the absence of the president
- Support
the president by accepting, where possible, duties and responsibilities
assigned by the president
- Attend
the synod council meetings as the LYO representative
- Serve
a one (1) year term
Secretary Duties
- Attend
all executive committee meetings
- Record
and keep minutes of all executive
committee meetings, board meetings, and assemblies
of the LYO and send them to the board, its advisory members
and to the Synod office
- Send
advance notice reminding all board members and advisory members
of upcoming board meetings

Handle all correspondence of this organization
- Serve
a one (1) year term
The
board shall determine whether an officer is unable or unwilling
to fulfill his/her respective duties. The LYO board shall be empowered
to declare said office vacant and to appoint a successor to complete
the unexpired term. Such a successor may be eligible for election
to the same office at the next assembly if he/she is within the
proper guidelines established by this constitution This board
shall determine whether the board president is unable or unwilling
to fulfill his/her respective duties. In this event the vice president
shall assume the duties of the presidency until the next LYO assembly.
The vice president may be eligible for election to the presidency
at the next assembly if he/she is within the proper guidelines
established by this constitution.

the 25 board members, the following positions need to be elected
by the board:

-- games/mixers, evening activities, free time, pool party

-- select speakers and topics to coordinate with theme and from
a variety of areas such as: fine arts, peer ministry, social
issues, spirituality, bible study, and general theme related

-- devotions, Sunday morning service, prayers

-- including sample covenant, and T-shirts

-- includes: schedule, expectations, workshop descriptions from
the workshop leaders, info about the band and about the speaker
from each of them, questions for small groups from speaker,
family time/church time questions, area ministry time questions,
and any other things needed
The
board shall fill vacancies on the board. Positions shall be declared
vacant after two(2) consecutive unexcused absences to board meetings.
The board's responsibilities shall be fulfilled through the work
of committees appointed by the board.
